I’ve always been the fat kid growing up. At the age of 11 I clocked in at 187 pounds. My parents are obese and I guess it is genetic. Of course I can’t blame it all on genetics. My main staples growing up had been McDonald’s and Pizza Hut. All throughout my school years I was tortured by unrelenting kids who would purposefully try and tear me down because of my weight. This made the problem even worse. I was eating because I was unhappy and at the same time unhappy because I was eating. I was caught in this vicious cycle of death that at its worst had me weighing in at 387 pounds at the age of 26.
I would hit up two to three drive-thrus a day and who knows how many calories I was consuming. I was lonely, depressed, and defeated. As a young man I knew my life was passing me by but I didn’t know what to do or how to change.
I still remember getting the call like it was yesterday. My mom had called me and told me my dad had a heart attack and was in the hospital. He was only 49 years old but weighed in at close to 400 pounds like me. He had been battling high blood pressure and cholesterol for as long as I can remember and I guess all of his unhealthy habits caught up with him. He passed away in the hospital three days later and I knew I would be next if I didn’t get it together.
I decided to go down to the gym and hire a trainer and face my demons. I didn’t care how uncomfortable I felt I was not going to end up dead before the age of 50 like my dad. My new trainer Justin helped me each step of the way and told me I could lose the weight without getting surgery. He put me on three servings of Labrada Lean Body per day as well as three whole food meals. I felt like a fish out of water but trusted he knew what he was doing. I had never taken a meal replacement protein shake before. My main source of protein had been Big Macs for most of my life so it was a big adjustment.
The Labrada Lean Body shakes tasted great and I got use to them right away. I was able to mix them up ahead of time and take them to work and keep them in the refrigerator in the break room. I was surprised that everyone at work was so supportive of me, which increased my motivation even more. My Labrada Lean Body shakes contained 330 calories, 4o grams of protein, and 24 vitamins and nutrients so they kept me full until my next meal.
I dropped 15 pounds in one week and was on cloud nine! I kept on ordering more Labrada Lean Body, working out with Justin, and getting plenty of rest. It’s been one year since I first started and I’ve lost 148 pounds. I never thought that I would weigh 239 pounds ever again. By combining proper nutrition such as Labrada Lean Body, an exercise routine, and a willingness to change I’m on my way to my goal weight of 180 pounds. I’m living again and I know my dad would be proud.
