I recently switched from using a tub of whey protein to American Soy by ASN because I needed something a bit easier on my stomach, and am glad I did. More than relieving the occasional stomach cramping, I am seeing some great physical results. My body looks stronger and leaner, and the only thing I have changed is my protein source. I look and feel great! American Soy is a protein powder I will use for the long haul.
Before changing proteins, I began doing a little research and found soy protein powders to provide a lot of health benefits as well. I read that soy proteins have been shown to reduce cholesterol levels, decrease the risks of heart disease, and help increase the nutritional value of other foods because of its complete amino acid profile. So, other than the physical benefits, I am now receiving great health benefits. Studies also show that aside from the major and well known benefits of soy, it is also thought of as decreasing the risk of other illnesses and diseases like prostate cancer, colon cancer, and osteoporosis. Another great incentive for me was that American Soy is so much less expensive than many leading protein powders and right now I am saving my pennies due to the lapsing economy. Every little bit helps. ASN provides a great resource for soy protein.
My vegetarian friends swear by Amercian Soy and have used ASN for years. I am most definitely a carnivore by nature, but always welcome information from my veggie friends. There is not one who is overweight or without muscle mass, so I listen when they talk about nutrition. I was told that American Soy is the closest vegetable protein that resembles meat proteins.
Soy protein is derived from soy flour, and of all other protein, like whey, rice, and even egg, soy protein powders like American Soy are some of the most complete proteins. Similar to whey protein, American Soy has two types, the concentrate and the isolate. The isolate is a bit more pure and expensive than the concentrate. American Soy is very digestible which is why my stomach cramps subsided, and can be comparable to milk and meat as a protein source. My vegetarian friends strongly agree. Also, if you suffer from food allergies like milk, egg, or dairy, American Soy is a great alternative.
ASN recommends that you add one level scoopful to 6-10 ounces of water, milk, or juice and stir or shake. You can also blend in a Magic Bullet or blender for about 20 seconds, and drink immediately. Adding a few ice cubes is perfect for thickening and making the shake extra cold. I prefer this method. Also, with so many protein powders I have tried in the past, there were times when the bloating was unbearable. With American Soy, I can mix up a shake and sip it at my desk without having to unbutton my pants and workout extra hard to rid the cramping and intense bloating. I am so glad to be rid of the bloat and pain!
